Professor Sung-Jin Oh of the School of Mathematics at the Korea Institute for Advanced Study (KIAS) has been selected as a recipient of the 2026 Ho-Am Prize in Science in the field of Physics and Mathematics.
Professor. Oh is a world-renowned mathematician who has opened a breakthrough in addressing fundamental challenges in both mathematics and physics by identifying instabilities arising inside black holes in the universe through nonlinear hyperbolic partial differential equations. In recognition of his contributions, including proposing a new analytical method to mathematically resolve problems related to general relativity, Professor. Oh has also been selected as an invited speaker at the 2026 International Congress of Mathematicians.
