Professor Kyeongsu Choi of the Division of Mathematics has been awarded the Science Prize at the 20th POSCO Cheongam Award.
Professor Choi has pioneered original solutions to topological challenges by bridging partial differential equations and differential geometry. In particular, by establishing the existence and regularity of solutions to various geometric partial differential equations describing “curvature flows,” he proved results on the mean curvature flow and the Gauss curvature flow, significantly advancing the theory of curvature flows. His research achievements have been consecutively published in leading international mathematics journals, including Acta Mathematica and Inventiones Mathematicae, earning him wide international recognition.
The POSCO Cheongam Foundation will hold the award ceremony for the 20th POSCO Cheongam Award on April 22 at the POSCO Center in Seoul.
