[HG_AP]A variational famy of axisymmetric vortex rings
ABSTRACT
We discuss steady axisymmetric vortex rings obtained by maximizing the kinetic energy under constraints. The variational problem also gives a characterization of Hill’s spherical vortex. We then examine the behavior of the maximizers as a parameter approaches either endpoint. This talk is based on joint work with Ken Abe (Osaka Metropolitan University).
