Son, Young-Woo

Professor

Theory of Materials

Prof. Son has contributed to developments of first-principles calculations methods and their applications to understand physical properties of solids. His works on various computational methods on interactions in solids and on theories of electronic, optical, structural and magnetic properties of solids have been cited about 25,000 times in 2024. For his achievements, he has received several important international and domestic awards such as the international Young Scientist Award by International Union of Pure and Applied Physics (IUPAP), the Knowledge Creation Award 2013 of Ministry of Science of Korea Government, Excellent Research Award by Korea Physical Society, Young Member of Korea Academy of Science and Technology and the POSCO TJ Park Science Award.
