AI Distinguished Professor

The Center for Artificial Intelligence and Natural Sciences at Korea Institute for Advanced Study is seeking outstanding distinguished professor in the areas of Artificial intelligence and Machine learning.

The candidates are required to have doctoral degrees in the relevant fields for which computational methods are appropriate or even necessary: Theoretical Machine Learning, High-dimensional computational geometry, Statistical Learning Theory/Statistical Inference, Information geometry and Application of AI to basic science (High energy physics, Cosmology, Statistical Physics, Materials Science, Chemical/Biological Sciences, Brain science/Neuroscience, etc.)

Applicants are expected to have demonstrated ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and develop junior scientists, including strong verbal and written communication skills to clearly convey complex concepts and computational analyses to diverse audiences.

Faculty member is provided with annual salary in accordance with KIAS regulations and individual research grants. The initial appointment for the Faculty position is three years and is renewable following an evaluation process. Each period of appointment may be adjusted according to conditions of the CAINS project.

AI Research Fellows

The Center for Artificial Intelligence and Natural Sciences at Korea Institute for Advanced Study (KIAS) invites applicants with a Ph.D. in Mathematics, Applied Math, Physics, Chemistry, Neuroscience, Biology, Information Science and related fields including Engineering and Computer Science.

The candidates are required to have or expected to receive their doctoral degrees by starting date at KIAS in the relevant fields for which computational methods are appropriate or even necessary: Theoretical Machine Learning, High-dimensional computational geometry, Statistical Learning Theory/Statistical Inference, Information geometry and Application of AI to basic science (High energy physics, Cosmology, Statistical Physics, Materials Science, Chemical/Biological Sciences, Brain science/Neuroscience, etc.)

Applicants are expected to have demonstrated exceptional research potential, including major contributions after or through the doctoral dissertation.

The annual salary starts from 48,200,000 Korean Won (approximately US$34,000 at current exchange rate); an individual research grant of 10,000,000 Korean Won and a welfare card will be provided each year. The initial appointment for the position is for two years and is renewable once for up to two years, depending on research performance and the needs of the research program at KIAS.
