n-Category and TQFT boundary condition
ABSTRACT
Recent studies have shown that generalized symmetry can be understood quite naturally in a higher category framework, which also happens to be the natural setting for TQFT, indeed for a system with generalized symmetry there is an associated TQFT which captures all the generalized symmetry data. But these symmetry TQFTs are not arbitrary, they have to satisfy some special conditions. In this talk I will go back to the original paper arXiv:1203.4568 to find out these conditions, where 2-categories of D=3 Reshetikin-Turaev TQFT boundary conditions/surface defects are studied and analyzed carefully. It turns out as a fusion category, such a bulk TQFT has to be the Drinfeld center of the fusion category of the boundary.
