TITLE High Dimensional Expanders and Applications
ABSTRACT

Expander graphs have been studied for several decades in different areas of mathematics. In the late 80's, Ramanujan graphs, i.e., spectrally optimal expander graphs, were constructed by Lubotzky, Phillips, and Sarnak. The construction is a beautiful fusion of results in combinatorics, number theory, group theory, and representation theory. It was generalized to simplicial complexes in 2004 by Lubotzky, Samuels, and Vishne, This initiated the study of high-dimensional expanders. In my talk, I will give an overview of the recent results on high-dimensional expanders, present their applications in the area of property testing, and list open questions. * The talk is for 9 - 10 PM.
