TITLE Metal-to-insulator transition in disordered Floquet systems
ABSTRACT

Time-periodically driven condensed matter systems have drawn enormous attention since the theoretical proposal of shining light on graphene to turn it into anomalous quantum hall systems. The idea of light induced spin-orbit-coupling is advanced to manifest more novel topological phases only allowed in Floquet systems. I will overview opportunities in Floquet quantum systems along with criticisms and challenges.

Then, I will move on to introduce the metal-to-insulator transition (MIT) via disorder in Floquet systems. The scaling of conductance over system size is of primary interest in condensed matter physics as various transport properties are not only often directly relevant to device applications, but also the characterization of the phases of matter. I will present theoretical tools to study MIT in static systems, and its extension in Floquet systems.
