Center for Advanced Computation
Recently, numerical computation has become a very important tool in making new findings and verifying analytic solutions as the size of scientific problems are becoming too big, too complex, and too time-consuming to solve analytically. Consequently, large-scale numerical computation became indispensible for almost all research fields from elementary particle physics to cosmology. At KIAS, there are several research areas of basic science that require heavy numerical computations such as quantum informatics, protein structure study and bio-physics, mathematical information science, astrophysics and cosmology, statistical and condensed physics, and high energy particle physics (accelerator and QCD). Established in December 2010, the KIAS Center for Advanced Computation provides KIAS scientists and collaborators with tools for large-scale numerical computation.
