Introduction

Biological systems are maintained through numerous interactions between biological constituents whose dynamics are realized over broad spectra of time and length scales. The primary focus of this field is on studying microscopic principles underlying various biological phenomena using theoretical tools based on theoretical chemistry and soft matter sciences. Thus, our interest ranges from the dynamics associated with the self-assembly and mechanical response of biopolymers (DNA, RNA, protein, and membrane systems) at single molecule level to the interactions among those molecules ultimately responsible for cellular functions. Further studies toward understanding biological phenomena at system level will be a long term research plan of the field. http://newton.kias.re.kr
