|TITLE||LLL and sandpiles|
The LLL algorithm, despite its fundamental importance in computational mathematics, in particular cryptography, has hardly been understood so far. However, recently, we have found that if we interpret LLL as a certain stochastic variant of a sandpile model, most of its mysteries are resolved. This variant may also be interesting from the perspective of statistical physics, since, unlike the original abelian sandpile model, it demonstrates the power-law distribution of avalanches in one-dimensional lattices. In this talk, I will introduce and discuss this stochastic sandpile model.
