  • Professor & KIAS Scholar
    • For the positions of tenure faculty, the Institute accepts applications from exceptional candidates working in foundational areas of theoretical basic sciences all year around.   • KIAS Scholars
    • The Institute launched the “KIAS Scholar Program” in 2006 in order to developing a scientific network of global leaders. Through the program, the Institute invites overseas scientists of the highest international caliber as KIAS research members with an associated residence commitment at the Institute. All qualified candidates are invited to contact the School Chair. Applications are accepted year round until all positions are filled.
  • Research Fellow
    • The School of Mathematics at the Korea Institute for Advanced Study (KIAS) invites applicants for the positions at the level of KIAS assistant professor and postdoctoral research fellow in pure and applied mathematics.
    • Applicants are expected to have demonstrated exceptional research potential, including major contributions beyond or through the doctoral dissertation. The annual salary starts from 49,500,000 Korean Won (approximately US$43,000 at current exchange rate) for Research Fellows, and 56,500,000 Korean Won for KIAS Assistant Professors, respectively. In addition, individual research funds of 10,000,000 ~ 13,000,000 Korean Won are available per year. The initial appointment for the position is for two years and is renewable for up to two additional years, depending on research performance and the needs of the research program at KIAS. Applications will be reviewed twice a year, May 20 and November 20, and selected applicants will be notified in a month after the review. In exceptional cases, applications can be reviewed other times based on the availability of positions. The starting date of the appointment is negotiable. Applications must include a complete vitae with a cover letter, a list of publications, a research plan, and three letters of recommendation (All documents should be in English).   • Research Fellow
    • The Institute encourages applications from scientists in theoretical basic sciences who wish to spend time at KIAS on sabbatical leave from their faculy positions at home institutions. Each visit should last at least 3 months and as long as one year. Applications will be reviewed twice a year, in the ends of May and November. Application deadlines are May 20 and November 20, respectively. Selected applicants will be notified in a month after the review. Interested applicants are asked to send an e-mail application specifying their intended period of visit together with a complete vitae and a research plan to:
